The ID.7 – much more than just an “electric Passat” The dimensions and comfort technology of the new ID.7 are aimed at the upper mid-size class. When compared to the competition, it comes up against real premium offerings: BMW i5, Mercedes EQE, Tesla Model S set the benchmark here. The VW ID.7 intends to rise to this challenge with special comfort highlights: a new operating and display concept with a 38 cm (15-inch) central screen and freely configurable “favorite buttons”, augmented reality head-up display and the “Smart Glass” panoramic roof are just a few examples. The latter ensures a light-flooded interior and can be switched between opaque and transparent thanks to the PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) layer integrated into the glass. BParticularly efficient with new AP550 electric motor

VW boasts a range of around 620 km as per WLTP for the new ID.7, which is quite remarkable for the size of the battery (77 kWh net). Its newly developed AP550 electric motor makes a significant contribution to this. The AP 550 generates more power and delivers a very high torque of 545 Nm while retaining the same size and design principle. A water-cooled stator and optimized thermal management are the main drivers behind the performance values, which are significantly better than those achieved by the previous VW electric motor.

Generous amount of space, yet extremely handy

The ID.7's wheelbase of almost 3 m puts it among the most spacious sedans in the upper mid-size class. The luggage compartment capacity surpasses that of many an estate or station wagon. Yet despite its size, the ID.7 is very easy to handle thanks to its turning circle of less than 11 meters. This makes it just as suitable for comfortable long-distance journeys as it is for country roads.
