Q6 e-tron - the new electric SUV from Audi now available at JB CarConcept

After a long break in new product launches, Audi is picking up speed again with the presentation of the Q6 e-tron electric SUV. Audi itself speaks of the “prelude to the largest product initiative at Audi”. JB CarConcept is now making the Q6 e-tron available for your bookings in the top version SQ6 e-tron quattro and as a Q6.

With progressive technology and a comfortable set-up, the Q6 e-tron keeps its distance from the - in some cases more sporty - competition such as Tesla's Model Y, Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX3, Porsche Macan E and various SUVs from Korean and Chinese manufacturers.

Technological basis PPE

The new electric Audi SUV is based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) technology platform developed jointly with Porsche. It is to be used across the entire premium segment of the VW Group. The smaller, lighter and more efficient motors are also new developments. A permanently excited electric motor is used on the rear axle. At the front, an asynchronous motor is switched on depending on the power and dynamic requirements. Depending on the drive version, ranges of over 640 km according to WLTP should be possible.

Tension between the familiar and the revolutionary

The body design described by Audi as progressive appears to us to be more of a further development of familiar Audi styling. However, auto motor und sport claims to have recognized a reminiscence of the past with a hint of “Ur-Quattro”. The powerful front look plays with 8 light signatures. The light elements at the front and rear are equipped with modern OLED technology.

The redesigned cockpit can be seen as a small revolution: with a stylish screen landscape, an optional additional display for passengers (available from JB CarConcept) and a thoroughly revised operating concept. Less menu depth, “permanent icons” for constantly required functions such as air conditioning and an additional control center integrated into the driver's door ensure a new balance between haptic and touch-screen switches.

800-volt technology and optimized efficiency

The electric concept of the Q6 e-tron has been fundamentally redesigned compared to the older Q8 e-tron. Based on 800-volt technology, a charging capacity of up to 270 kW and so-called bank charging are now possible. The battery is divided into two units by the control system, each of which can be charged with 135 kWh.

The built-in lithium-ion battery has an increased nickel content. Semiconductor technology based on silicon carbide in the pulse inverter also ensures better efficiency in drive and storage technology.

Further data on the SQ6 e-tron quattro at a glance:

  • Length: 4.77 m, width: 1.97 m, height 1.67 m
  • All-wheel drive
  • Maximum output 380 kW / 516 hp and 855 Nm torque
  • Battery capacity: up to 94.9 kWh (net)
  • Consumption according to WLTP: 17.6 kWh / 100 km
  • Charging capacity 270 kW DC, 11 kW AC
  • Heat pump, frunk (additional storage space at the front)
  • Top speed: 230 km/h (limited)

Does the Q6 e-tron once again stand for “Advantage through technology”?

A legitimate question - Audi's publications on the new electric SUV at least give the impression. The PPE platform, the 800-volt technology and the progressive interior concept are a few indications of this. Your tests, comparison drives, events in the competitive environment and consumption/charging measurements in rough everyday traffic can provide further clues to answer the question.
